What kinds of stories do people have about trees? Why are we so inspired by these huge, slow-moving leafy towers in town or out in the wilds?
We all universally like them. Several friends helped me put together an oral history of peoples feelings about trees ten or so years ago. Maybe there are still remnants of this project sponsored by East Central College in Union, MO, still floating about the Internet for the government to spy upon.
It was a pretty benign project. We produced a CD of some of the better stories that were recorded in a recording tree in the college’s art gallery. Here is one of the more amazing tales we recorded. It is from a young woman who grew up nearby in Franklin County.
